Thought for Today

The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

News from the Community Room

What Colour is Church?

Our next guest on Let’s Talk is Vanessa Hartley, an 8th-generation Black Loyalist descendant, born and raised in Shelburne, Nova Scotia.

Vanessa found enjoyment in community engagement and a love for Black history when she started as Program Coordinator and Visitor Experience Supervisor at the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre.

In 2021 Vanessa was awarded Provincial Volunteer of the Year representing the Municipality of Shelburne.

She is active on so many fronts, not the least of which is her faith and her cultural history. And that is our focus for Let’s Talk on Sunday, May 19th at 3:00 pm.

She was born into her cultural history, a history that is both rich and painful. She was born into her faith but chose to walk away.

The overarching question is: What is it like to be young, Black, and female in today’s Christian world, especially in North America?
Join our community conversation on Lets Talk, with Vanessa Hartley, Sunday, May 12th at 3:00 pm.

Next Week

We'll talk with Lana Silk, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. office of Transform Iran.

Lana was born and raised in Iran before emigrating to the UK where she completed her education at Imperial College, London, then moved to the U.S post in Ohio.

Iran is the current hotbed of Christian growth despite the more than hostile environment toward the faith.

Lana considers it her life calling to represent and advocate for the people of Iran in the West.

We'll talk about the social, political, and religious state of Iran today; the importance of prayer; and providing practical aid to  advance the Gospel amid the religious persecution in the underground church.

A heart filled with love has no room for hate.
