Our facilities

Hope Centre is a place where people meet, sometimes online and often in person. We offer modern technology, state of the art sound, comfortable surroundings, and services, all free of charge.

The Community Room

The Community Room, our main function area, will accommodate thirty people for a concert, presentation, or meal function. The tables and chairs are modern, heavy duty, yet easily stacked out of site to allow other room configurations or functions

The gear includes a Bose sound system with professional mics and concert quality mic and music stands. A complete Roland drum kit and cajon — sometimes called a beat box - provide the in-house percussion section

We have all the audio mixing gear and it is tied to the Radio from Hope Centre studio to double as a recording studio. The set-up has easily accommodated a four piece band but adding another instrument or player would be pushing the limit. Regrettably, we do not have a piano.

The audio/video equipment includes an M-2 Apple MacIntosh computer with current software for production, streaming, and recording. Watch movies, special broadcasts, and more on the big screen.

The facility is also equipped for online team meetings or Zoom gatherings and here is where Hope Centre really shines. The online setup uses a single audio/video input and output source with no delay or lag. The three camera array takes in 180 degrees and trims or enlarges the field of view as people enter or leave the meeting. It also zooms in to highlight the speaker to give full attention to the what is said.

The conversation pit

The Conversation Pit is a popular spot for a half dozen people to lounge, brainstorm, or dig for deeper understanding.

Change the furniture and change the setting. Options include multiple stacking chairs, but the most popular includes two, large, leather club chairs. Note: get there early if you want a club chair!

It is next to the self-serve Coffee Nook where you'll find all the fixings for fresh tea, coffee, or cold drinks. The nook also houses the place settings for meal functions, all within easy reach for set-up or clean-up.

There is also a serving table equipped with a warming station including an induction plate, a three crock server, and a large chafing dish.

The place settings and accessories are all new, purchased from a restaurant supply.

While we do have a small gender neutral washroom, we are currently looking for assistance to convert the facility to a fully accessible washroom. Speaking of fully accessible, we currently use a "portable" wheel chair ramp to the front door. We are also looking for help to build a permanent ramp.

The Community Kitchen

The Community Kitchen is spacious with room for lots of volunteers to share the load and make life easier. With all new appliances and restaurant quality gear, your menu is open to your imagination.

A large central dining table seats eight with ease and ten if you want to push it. It doubles as a work station or the "Chef's Table" for those special or overflow guests.

Parking and access

There is lots of room to use our generous driveway and you can easily turn around at the rear of the Centre. We encourage you to come in, turn around and park along the right side of the driveway pointing out to the street. Parking signs will be posted as soon as weather permits the installation of posts. Two accessible parking spots are reserved adjacent to the front door, the main entrance for all public functions.

Please note there are a few reserved parking spots for Hope Centre tenants and guests to the radio studio. The side door is reserved for the radio studio and private living quarters. The reserved parking spaces are well indicated with signs and we appreciate your kindness in respecting these special needs
